Shri K.V.S. Baba is a distinguished power sector professional and Former Chairman & Managing Director (CMD), POSOCO (Now GRID CONTROLLER OF INDIA LIMITED), with over 33 years of diversified and extensive experience in the Indian power sector. Prior to his appointment as CMD in December 2017, he served as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), POSOCO, where he played a pivotal role in strengthening grid reliability and market operations.

An Electrical and Electronics Engineer by qualification, Shri Baba has held several key technical and leadership positions across premier organizations such as NTPC Ltd., Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), and Power System Operation Corporation Limited (POSOCO). His areas of expertise span power system planning, design of EHV transmission systems, power system analysis, corporate planning, and project management in distribution systems, in addition to system operation and electricity market operations.

Shri Baba has been at the forefront in the large-scale integration of renewable energy into the national grid. He has made significant contributions in the areas of frequency control mechanisms, introduction of ancillary services, and enhancement of operational discipline and grid security. He is a qualified System Operator and has also acquired Specialist-level Certification in Regulatory Framework in the Power Sector.

He has been deeply involved in collaborative engagement with State Load Despatch Centres (SLDCs) through the Forum of Load Despatchers (FOLD) and has actively promoted capacity building and knowledge dissemination among sector stakeholders. Shri Baba has co-authored several technical papers on diverse topics related to power system operation, markets, and grid management.

At the national and international levels, Shri Baba has actively contributed to professional bodies and forums. He currently serves as the Technical Co-Chair, CIGRE India. He has represented POSOCO in GO15 (formerly the Very Large Power Grid Operators of the World), contributing to global exchanges on best practices in power system operation.
