Bio

Abhishek Shah is a Partner in KPMG India’s Power & Utilities practice with over two decades of experience in management consulting, project finance, and energy transition advisory. He specialises in decarbonisation, and strategy, with deep expertise across solar energy, offshore wind, energy storage, and green hydrogen. Abhishek has led large, complex, end to end engagements spanning policy design, programme implementation, bid process management, financial structuring, and investment mobilisation. His work with central and multiple state governments includes designing flagship national programmes such as PM KUSUM, PM Surya Ghar, Solar Parks and Ultra Mega Solar initiatives, the National Green Hydrogen Mission, and India’s emerging offshore wind viability gap framework.

He has advised a wide portfolio of global institutions, including the World Bank, ADB, GIZ, KfW, UNDP, DFID/FCDO, UNICEF and IRENA, leading several marquee technical assistance programmes in the power and renewable energy sector. His experience spans more than six countries — including India, Singapore, the UAE, Qatar, the UK and Nepal — giving him a global perspective on enabling conditions for clean energy deployment, market design, investment frameworks, and sector reforms. He has also front ended international investor roadshows and supported multiple state governments in mobilising private capital for large scale energy development.

At KPMG, Abhishek also serves as a strategic partner for key clients in the power ecosystem. His breadth of experience cuts across rooftop and ground mounted solar, solar manufacturing, utility reforms, digitalisation of power systems, and next generation solutions such as virtual power plants, distributed storage, and green hydrogen value chains. He brings together consulting rigour, on ground programme experience, and financing acumen — enabling governments, multilaterals, utilities, and private sector players to accelerate the energy transition at scale.
