Mr. Harish Saran is a distinguished professional in the power sector with over 37 years of extensive experience in power trading, generation, transmission, marketing and commercial operations. He is widely recognized for his strategic leadership, deep domain expertise, and pivotal contributions to the evolution of India’s power markets.
Mr. Harish Saran is currently serving as the Managing Director in Hindustan Power Exchange Limited (HPX), where he is leading the organization’s strategic growth, market development initiatives, and institutional strengthening in alignment with India’s evolving power market framework.
Prior to joining HPX, Mr. Saran was Director (Marketing) in PTC India Limited, (India’s largest power trading company) and there he has played a key role in driving market leadership, strengthening stakeholder relationships, and delivering strong financial performance. Before joining PTC India Ltd., Mr. Harish Saran was associated with NTPC Limited and Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, contributing to large-scale power sector operations and infrastructure development.
Mr. Saran has also successfully led several consultancy assignments and has been instrumental in advancing cross-border electricity trade with neighboring countries, including Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh thereby supporting regional power market integration.
An alumnus of NIT Durgapur, Mr. Saran holds a degree in Electrical Engineering and a PGDM from IMT Ghaziabad. He has consistently contributed to power market innovations and policy-aligned market development initiatives.
