Shri N.S. Sodha is a highly accomplished power sector professional with more than 35 years of rich and diverse experience in the Indian Power Sector. He graduated in Electrical Engineering with Honours from Malaviya Regional Engineering College, Jaipur, in 1976, and further enhanced his professional capabilities by acquiring a Management Degree.

Over the course of his distinguished career, Shri Sodha has made significant contributions in the areas of project implementation, operation and maintenance, renovation and modernization of Extra High Voltage (EHV) substations, and system operation through Load Dispatch Centres (LDCs). He has also been closely associated with the design and engineering of load dispatch and communication systems, playing a key role in strengthening grid reliability and operational efficiency.

Shri Sodha’s professional journey includes assignments with leading multinational organizations such as M/s HBB Ltd. (now ABB Ltd.), as well as premier Public Sector Undertakings including NTPC Ltd. and Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID). His association with both multinational and public sector organizations enabled him to bring together global best practices and indigenous operational experience, contributing meaningfully to the advancement of the Indian power transmission and system operation infrastructure.

Throughout his tenure, Shri Sodha held several senior leadership and technical positions, where he was instrumental in planning, execution, operation, and modernization of critical power system assets, particularly in the domain of high-voltage substations and grid operation.
Shri N.S. Sodha superannuated as Executive Director, POWERGRID, after rendering exemplary service and leaving behind a legacy of technical excellence, leadership, and dedication to the Indian power sector. He currently serves as the Technical Co-Chair, CIGRE India.
