Mr. Sumit Bansal is a power sector professional with over two decades of experience spanning power generation, distribution reforms, policy development, and large-scale sectoral programs. A B.Tech (Hons.) in Instrumentation & Control Engineering from Kurukshetra University, he has also completed the Harvard Manage Mentor program in Business Administration.
He began his career with NTPC, gaining operational experience at the Singrauli Super Thermal Power Station, and later contributed to corporate functions including contract management, policy formulation, ISO processes, and MoU performance evaluation with the Government of India.
During his deputation to Power Finance Corporation (PFC), he served as Nodal Officer for Andhra Pradesh under RDSS, facilitating financial support to DISCOMs, coordinating implementation agreements, and supporting the rollout of smart metering initiatives.
He was also part of the Expert Group on Smart Metering (EGSM), where he contributed to smart metering policy implementation, localization of metering technologies, and monitoring of nationwide smart meter deployment under RDSS, supporting India’s evolving power distribution ecosystem.
He is presently associated with the National SCADA Resource Centre (NSRC), a specialized national facility focused on capacity building, training, research, and knowledge dissemination in SCADA and Distribution Management Systems (DMS) for the Indian power distribution sector.
